The move elevates 10 of the EU’s member states above the remaining 17.

Denmark helped them spy on the EU a couple years back and now they’re threatening with invading Greenland.

Not a good ally is an understatement.

On Greenland, atlanticism fundamentalists could blame Trump, but this embargo is from the business as usual faction in the US.

How does this even work? Do they realize there is no border control or tolls within the EU? If I imported a shitton of GPUs to Germany and shipped them off immediately to Hungary, it would be highly illegal for anyone to stop me.

The goal is to threaten measures against some countries, have the EU mention exactly that this doesnt work in a single market and then the US be “forced” to act against the entire market, or the pro-US powers bully the other countries into submission to some US rule.

Then they still don’t understand how it works. Most of those decisions require unanimity. Sometimes, on very cardinal issues they can get one or at most two dissenters to “leave the room” - see Hungary - but half the Union?

Also, the French are too spiteful, the Germans too absorbed in their bureaucracy to be bullied. Everyone else hates the US on principle.

I wonder why they singled out Portugal like that 🤔
