I don’t put much stock in business astrology grifters myself 😆. But I definitely agree that we adapt our behaviors to the people we’re with and situations we’re in. And that how we want to be seen by others and the expectations of others both have a strong impact on the behavior we exhibit. I would strongly disagree with that last third though - we are always who we really are.
The behaviors we’re reluctant or incapable of changing around others are no more us than the behaviours that we have stronger insight into and control over.
Yeah I don’t think “being yourself” is a thing that anyone has to worry about. You can only ever be yourself.
As you point out, we’re social mammals. We always exist in a social context and the behaviors that benefit us are highly dependent on that context.
It’s also perfectly natural for our identities to change over time. We don’t “discover the real me” we adopt new identities that benefit us more. That’s just how being a human is.

It’s also important to remember that non-violence serves the interest of entrenched power. The state is at its core a violence-control structure. When people excersize the power of violence in their own interests, the state must reassert it’s dominion or risk collapse.
Non-violent requests can be accommodated without elites feeling like their ill-gotten power is threatened. But it’s often the violent demands that scare them into doing so.

The extreme concentrations of power in fewer and fewer individuals that we see in many countries is definitely one driver of global fascism.
But russian influence operations is another big driver, as are increasing poverty and general resource-stress and anxiety brought about by climate crisis and the stasis inflicted by incompetent governments which haven’t produced meaningful, beneficial change for their people in decades.

The bar i used to drink at in SW china would write fake receipts for business travellers. The one time i was there for it a dutch guy came in, bought an expensive bottle of maotai for everyone to share, then the owners wrote him a receipt for twice that much. The patrons got drunk, the bar got paid and the guy got to steal from his company.
