  • Go to settings, search for Application Style, there, in the top right you can click Gtk Theme and select one. You can also click Get new.. and download a new one. Note that they might now show all by default.

You can find more via the website. To do so, select any, click Visit project website and search the site for more. To find them in the Get new... window, just put the name in the search bar. They are guaranteed to show then.

Edit: Any of the items I named might be slightly off. Need to get to my computer to correct that 😄

  • I have a wireless keyboard. It comes with its own dongle, so you can expect it to work with some generic keyboard driver. I plugged into my USB-hub, works just fine on Linux. No lag, no nothing.

On Windows? Well, it works, but the audio device I have plugged in just straight up refuses to function while the dongle is hooked up as well. It seems to gobble up pretty much the entire bandwidth. Amazing.

  • You know, what Trump is doing, pretty obviously even, is trying to extort Ukraine for their natural resources, by threatening to cut support and let Russia do whatever. More even, he is badmouthing their president and parroting Russia’s narrative, opening up the possibility for overthrowing the government if it doesn’t meet his/Russia’s demands. And on top of all that, you can bet your ass he will graciously offer Ukraine to buy US weapons, even if they take the deal. Probably also doesn’t mind doing some business over there, using shock doctrine to its fullest to exploit the Ukrainian people.

This is the kind of peace you can expect from Trump.

  • Literally never had EndeavourOS break in any way.

Last time might have been the GRUB issue that affected all of Arch. If you use GRUB that is, since it’s not the default on EndeavourOS. Next time might be old package repos being shut off, but only if your install is older, plus there’s already the second announcement with simple instructions regarding that on Arch News. Also, it will just block updates.

I’ve put two people without any prior knowledge on EndeavourOS, didn’t hear any complains either. I myself had no prior knowledge in Linux and hopped from Kubuntu to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed to Garuda Linux in short succession. I only switched to EndeavourOS after Garuda repeatedly broke. Been on it for 2 years without an issue I think.

I know this is not a representative study and as a computer scientist, I do grasp things quickly, but I strongly oppose the notion that EndeavourOS is not beginner friendly.

  • Absolutely agree, I think what Trump and his henchmen are doing will ultimately be good for the EU, whether that’s their intention or not. (I think it’s not btw.) What he seems to completely ignore is that it undermines their influence.

If Europe now bets on it’s own chips, military tech and strength, currency, etc., this means the US loose economic and geopolitical weight. And on top of that, the perception of the US as an unwavering ally is lost. The US are now perceived more and more hostile. This means he can expect more opposition from the EU when he tries to do whatever random shit he comes up with.

He’s so incredibly arrogant, he thinks everyone is so dependent on the US that they can’t refuse them anything, now and forever. I’m not sure I’d want to take that bet while I don’t have to.

  • Of course it’s a construct, you constructed or at least parroted it. It is connecting two unrelated topics as if they where connected, i.e. the US vice-president supporting a facist party and the German chancellor speaking out against it, and the current German government tolerating a facist government in Israel.

At most you can point some the hypocrisy here, although I would to point out that there are politicians who spoke out against Israel, our foreign minister included, and that the situations are completely different. One is about foreign interference in elections and the other is basically about arms deals and inaction.

What is even the point of connecting these topics? Government bad, better vote facist?

  • Not necessarily right now, but once you connect the dots.

Since the last election, things basically went from “who needs a military anyway?” being a not that uncommon stance to a huge fucking war next door, hybrid attacks and a noticeable uptick in espionage. And today we were reminded that it’s actually happening - our most important ally is now led by a maniac.

  • Zen and “mainline” (default/vanilla) are generally fine for “desktop use” and gaming. Zen is basically the mainline kernel with some tweaks. They are mostly concerned with latency, reducing the maximum time a process can spend blocking the processor - among other things.

This can lead to less input lag or a “smoother” desktop experience, but overall performance is as good as mainline at most. Slightly worse in some scenarios.

Hardned is a tradeoff afaik. You will stay behind mainline a bit, but get extra hardening. This can also impact performance, but rarely does in a meaningful way. If you don’t have any specific reason to use it, e.g. you carry it around on a laptop with sensitive data, I would look at other ways to harden my system first (firewall, encryption, access control, anti-virus, sandboxing, VPN…).

Pretty much the same goes for LTS, but with the focus more on stability than security.

RT is only for special applications.
