0-2 would indicate negative, 0 being extremely bad and life changing and 2 pretty bad (worse than broken bones)

3 which should be neutral is broken bones

4-6 indicates success, but 4 seems to be just barely passing (e.g. landing it but with a fumble and falling) which doesnt seem to balance out a broken bone for 3 or something worse at 2

More clarification: this is more about clock speed. Having a fixed clock frequency is important for making sure that everything functions correctly. Transistors take a certain amount of time to turn on and off, which for the most part is a fixed time duration. This can change with temperature, voltage, and design.

Trying to run the clock too fast may mean that parts of the device havent fully turned on or off, or signals havent fully propagated through for parts that chain transistors together.

Some devices will have better transistor or worse transistors due to variations between batches and there can be some variation within a single part.

The clock is therefore set to be in a range that gives the highest performance possible while also ensuring stability (some overhead to allow temp, power, noise and variation to not cause instability).

The clocks in this case are running 0.57% faster which is negligible, and likely well within the margin of error, though this upward drift is a natural consequence of the aging of the components (specifically the quartz resonator that sets the frequency).

Modern processors do the same thing as these processors, though they also allow variable clock speeds. This allows turning down the clock speed most of the time to save power when not much is going on. This also means there is also some minor overhead available on many cpus.

This is where “overclocking” comes from. Turning up the clock speed until the device becomes unstable, adjusting the voltages, temperatures, power, noise, etc. to get more performance out of the same part.

Adjusting just the clock doesnt account for the fixed timing of the transistors (thus changing voltages, temps), and theres less overhead on modern processors, so its more of a mixed bag of results. Additionally, the CPU itself can degrade over time, and this shrinks the overhead. For the either old or modern cpus, it may have had 10% of headroom, which would shrink over time due to cpu degredation to lets say 5%, so a 0.6% increase due to resonator degredation is negligible.

Overclocking is also possible on older consoles, though with differing levels of success. These older consoles were designed with a fixed frequency, and as a result many games are not designed to account for differing framerates. This means running the game faster doesnt just mean a higher fps/smoother gameplay, but you may literally move twice as fast if the game runs twice as fast.

They are a fairly small group compared to other marginalized groups, and particularly vulnerable compared to others. There is already a lot of misinformation about them. Average people often dont run into them or understand them Well enough to make informed decisions. Its easy for billionaires and republicans to wield religion against them. They are often vocal about their beliefs. Intersectionality is also important (e.g. supporting and protecting other minority demographics’ rights because it is the right thing to do, and tearing each other down is counterproductive) to them, which isnt always the case. Disappearing them sets an example and is a test run for setting up the infrastructure and means to take control. See: nazi germany with the deaf, and current marginalization by the trump administration of the trans and disabled communities.

Things will work for the most part, but be slow and have many pain points for a little while. ARM support isnt 100% across the board yet, and development in this direction is going to take a while given ARM conversion took a few years with major vendors switching over. Usually this can happen when you are owed money by an institution (bank, insurance, stocks, etc) and you either dont claim it, dont get the check, forget about it, or it happens outside of your knowledge (e.g. grandparents set up an account). In the US, you can usually check with your state’s Comptroller’s office. For example, NY has unclaimed funds under the office of the New York state comptroller

I’d reccomend going directly to the state .gov website and looking there or making sure you have the state website if following a link. They will let you search by name for unclaimed accounts, and then after choosing the one you want to claim, it will ask for ssn, dob and name, etc. If they can verify that information, you get a check in the mail. Ive gotten a few hundred from old insurance that probably settled some account after I’d switched.

Regardless of how we feel about TikTok (I dont like it either for the same reasons)

The ban isn’t about privacy violations by the owning corporation or because of challenges or mental health, but rather that the US government (directly or by proxy through the owning corporation) isnt the one in control of the information collected or the algorithms.

Due to its younger user base and lack of US based corporate interests, things that US corporations would normally block, remove or downplay with their algorithms are allowed. This means the culture and information that would normally dissapear from US media and social media instead on tiktok tends to be much more liberal and available. On the other hand, information critical of china or contrary to their culture may be less visible, and your information is getting tracked by china instead of the us.

This difference was exemplified in the wake of the United Healthcare CEOs assasination. Traditional US media was extremely critical of the shooter, and dropped any presumption of Luigi’s innocence or deniability prior to the conclusion of his court case. Comments and posts were removed for displaying anything other than giving him the death penalty (hyperbole, but). They denied that there was a problem and downplayed peoples concerns with the US healthcare system and billionaires.

TikTok on the other hand (and smaller social media sites like on the fediverse) showed immense support for Luigi, and expressed their disdain for the US healthcare system and the ruling class.

Same for the war in ukraine, especially for the genocide in gaza perpetrated by Israel on the Palestinians.

The government and ruling class is upset that they dont have the personal and tracking information of TikTok users, that they cant control the algorithm, and cant ask the company to stop showing things that make them look bad or could potentially be used to create a movement against them. Its those very trends that travel quickly through tiktok that have the potential to be dangerous to them.
